What 3 words best describe your work?
Not Cookie Cutter.Tell us about your company name.
When deciding what to name the company, we felt no matter how unique and personalized we wanted our events to be we felt they would still incorporate an air of elegance. How that elegance would be brought out for each wedding would be up to the couple, but we feel it is important to keep that in mind when organizing all of the details that go into planning a wedding! Therefore, all of our events will be Elegant.Why should someone hire you?
We care about not only helping you bring your wedding to fruition, but also making it personal. I am a firm believer that every wedding should stand out in your guests’ minds. It is unfortunate how many weddings become 'just another wedding'. You should remind guests not only why you are with your partner and your love for each other, but also why each of them are so important to you that you wanted them to come share this important day in your lives. Each guest should leave a wedding reminded why they love you, what brought all of you together and why you are all so important to each other. This is not just a special day for you and your partner, it should be a special day for everyone you care enough about to make sure they are there to share it with you!What are the common misconceptions about your services?
The most common misconceptions that I experience would be that the Day of Coordination can be done with only one day of work. It takes weeks to be able to be prepared for Day of Coordination. Also, if a package is not within your budget or if we are unavailable on your date, we have helped many couples prepare for their wedding (including but not limited to: site selection, site visits, help locating vendors, assistance creating layouts, etc.) without being available for Day of Coordination on their date.What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
When I got out of college many of my friends and family members were planning their weddings, baby showers, etc. but didn't have the time to do it all on their own. I was out of work so I began helping with many of them. After a year or so of doing this, my husband finally approached me saying it is nice that I am willing and able to help, but I should really consider getting paid for it. So Cathy's Elegant Events was born.Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
I had a wedding where the favor was a travel mug. Inside each mug the bride included a handwritten letter and a picture of that guest with the bride/groom from years past. I have never seen so many people in one room cry from happiness—it was humbling.What makes a wedding memorable for you?
I think the more connection and friendship I develop with the couple before the wedding, the more memorable it is for me. Most of my couples I keep in touch with, even years after their wedding. Many of them have become life-long friends and I find it to be a privilege to have been able to meet/get to know them during such an amazing time in their lives.What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
Don't put things off when you are going through the planning process and, again, remind your guests why they are there and why they are important to you.If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?
To be able to teleport!What are 3 words that describe your personality?

It used to be camping, backpacking and reading. In 2012 my husband and I purchased what once was the first and largest privately owned zoo in the US, which closed in 2006. That pretty much engulfs all of my spare time now!If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?
I would either continue in my field in Mathematics or the medical field, which is where I worked before going to school (I specifically enjoyed working with the elderly; there is a lot to learn from them!). Or, I would be getting another sort of project off the ground at our zoo.What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?
A glass of wine and a good movie.Tell us about your pets, if you have any.
My husband and I have 2 dogs, Hudson who is a Great Dane, a gentle goofy giant. Grady, who is a redheaded Australian Shepherd, Husky, Collie mix; he is an energetic overbearing creature who loves strangers but is often mean to our old man (Hudson). We also have 3 cats: Steve who is a 20lb big fat fluffy black cat (we believe a Norwegian Forest [Scag] Cat) who was born on the zoo but we brought him in at 4 weeks old. He is super friendly and often follows visitors all over the property (we call him our tour guide). We also have Lucy and Ethel who we found on the side of the road. They are Linx Point Siamese twin sisters who are inseparable.What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?
I like going into New York City with one of my favorite well experienced caterers and she brings me to all sorts of places, which is awesome!Cathy's Elegant Events, LLC Covers These Areas:
