Reviews

“I knew I wanted a storyteller…not just a videographer. John captured all the moments we had hoped for plus more. He runs a well-oiled machine and is without a doubt in the Top 1% of wedding vendors you will come across.”

“He did a Same Day Edit for our wedding and it was amazing and perfect. The guests couldn’t believe the film he’d put together, as they commented that they didn’t even notice him there filming. He arrived early to the wedding and got right to work. He was invisible yet everywhere. He captured every moment we would have wanted.”

“The thing that sets John apart is that he makes you feel so important. He makes you feel comfortable and he is so genuine. I wholeheartedly recommend him to everyone I know.”

“People barely noticed he was there! John knows how to melt into the background. He is very good at it.”

We love our wedding film so much. I watch our shortened version at least once a month.”

“We love him so much and can’t think of anything that he could do better. He really is amazing to work with. John is calm, mild mannered and very patient. He also knows how to capture the best parts of your special day.”

“I can’t speak highly enough about John. He knows exactly what to do. He’s so unobtrusive, stealth and nobody notices he is there.”

“John’s films are truly amazing. He has an incredible eye for detail and knows exactly what to capture to really tell the story. Every time.”

Questions and Answers

Why should someone hire you?
I sometimes jokingly tell couples who are concerned about the investment it takes to produce a great Wedding Film that they could just hire the cheapest wedding videographer they can find and if it doesn't turn out good, they could always just do it over. There are some moments in life where you don't get a do-over. Your wedding day is that one day when all of the most important people on the planet will all be at one place to celebrate for you. Godfather Films has the advantage of bringing the experience of filming more than 3,000 weddings to your celebration. When something is this important, you really should hire the experts.
What are the common misconceptions about your services?
Recording how people look is just a small part of what we do. It is more about how people feel. It's not just the bride standing there in her dress; It's the moment when she is finally dressed and catches herself in a mirror and is taken in by her own beauty. It's not just the bride walking down the aisle; it's the anticipation moments before and the groom's expression when he sees his bride approaching. When everybody in the room is watching the bride walk down the aisle, there is one person who is looking somewhere else. It's the mother of the groom looking at her son. I love that moment.
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
Even though it rarely happens, sometimes couples have relationship challenges in their marriage. I believe when you fall in love, you will always be in love. It's just that sometimes it's hard to get back to where you started. I've always felt that if I do my job correctly by capturing the groom's expression as he realizes how lucky he is to be marrying the woman he loves as she walks down the aisle, and hearing the love grow in a bride's voice as she says her vows, that I will be giving something to our couples that will allow them to always remember how strong their love is for other.
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
One of my favorite moments of the wedding event is right after the ceremony when the wedding party gathers just before the post ceremony photos and everybody is hugging and offering congratulatory messages to the couple and family. I get to film people when they are genuinely happy.

I also love filming brunches the day after the wedding. It's the couple's inner circle and they are all sharing the best moments of the wedding celebration from their own unique perspectives, which are different from the couple's.
What have weddings taught you?
The ultimate goal in life is to be old and in love. And the path to that goal begins with the marriage commitment. When we meet a couple who has been married 50 years or longer, we all want to hear their advice. Everybody smiles when we see an elderly couple holding hands and we realize that's where we all want to be.
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
Our most precious belongings are not things. They are the memories of our adventures and celebrations. Couples only get to experience 10% of their own wedding and we only remember 10% of what we experience. You will only have 1% memory of the biggest day of your life on day two of your marriage. The challenge is that all memories fade and most eventually disappear. The purpose of wedding video is Time Travel.
If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?
I would want to instantly replay the coolest moments of the day like we do with our TVs with TiVo or a DVR. Oh wait, since I am filming the wedding, I can already do that.
What's your favorite marriage advice?
Always put the wants and needs of your partner first. If you both do that, you will have a great marriage.
Extracurricular activities:
Since I have been commissioned to film in 29 states and 21 countries, I have been able to see some of the most interesting and beautiful parts of the planet. It really is a beautiful place. Now that we offer aerial cinematography, I have enjoyed flying my drone on several continents.
