Questions and Answers

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
Back in 2010, I was slinging drinks in a bar in Madison and noticed that the music venue next door hosted weddings. I asked the owners what the scoop was, and they asked me to cover a day-of shift for them. After I worked that wedding, I sat them down and explained that they needed a full-time person in this role to support the couples, and told them that person was going to be me. So, I basically bossed my way into my first wedding job and have been loving weddings ever since!
What have weddings taught you?
Ironically, to slow down. I spend a great deal of the wedding day trying to keep everything moving and on time, but the most important thing I want my couples to take away from the day is the ability to remember it. I remind them to be present and take a few extra moments here and there to really soak it in. Being surrounded by so much love is a truly special thing, and it reminds me to be present and slow down once in a while in my own life.
What are 4 words that describe your personality?
Energetic. Driven. Dependable. Tenacious.
Extracurricular activities:
I love to rock climb, hit the beach, hike with my dog (Charles), ski, scuba, and surf. I also love cooking, baking, working with flowers, and I'm a painter and a sewer. Basically, if Martha Stewart and James Bond had a kid, I'd be that kid.
If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?
I would be an Airbnb or adventure host somewhere warm and near the ocean. I LOVE to host and I love to entertain! Weddings fit pretty well into that combo!
