What 3 words best describe your work?
Beautiful. Natural. Emotional.
Why should someone hire you?
I am professional, on time, dependable, reliable, and excellent at my job. Having shot both film and digital photography, I have a keen understanding of lighting and capturing moments as they happen. My work is a combination of candid beautiful moments combined with the necessary and most important portraits to capture your wedding day in the most detailed way possible. From the detail shots, to the emotions, to the portraits, I work hard to provide you with high quality, long lasting imagery that you envision for generations to come.
Tell us about your company name.
In 2015, I changed my company name from Bella Rosa Photography to Jennifer Carrillo Photography.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
I have been taking photographs since I was 9 years old. Photography began for me as a journalistic documentary hobby from my childhood. After I was married, I began working with a wedding photographer. We shot film at the time for fun on the weekends. In a few short months, people began hiring me to capture their weddings forcing me to take a look at my life and realize my calling was to be a photographer. I quit my day job, opened a photography business, and have been successfully working since 1999. My love of life's most beautiful moments is what has always drawn me to photography. For one instant, I can freeze time and relive a moment through this image. It is these moments that inspire me daily.
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
The natural world is an incredible inspiration to me—especially natural light, true love, and incredible locations. I also love creativity, variation from the norm, and vintage almost anything.
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
I think I am always surprised when someone faints and it has happened more than a few times at weddings I have captured.
What makes a wedding memorable for you?
The love and friendship between a couple is what makes weddings most memorable to me.
What have weddings taught you?
The realness and rawness of a beautiful connection between two individuals does exist, and it is a beautiful thing.
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
On the day of the wedding, don't focus on what may or may not be perfect: Put your focus on the marriage. The wedding day is simply a beautiful day to commit to one another, but the marriage is a lifetime of commitment to one another. Focus on the love and friendship shared. The rest will fall into place beautifully.
If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?
To control natural light and to be able to hover about...maybe to be invisible at times as well to really capture those real, raw, and emotional moments from those that may be camera shy.

Kind, empathetic, and compassionate.

Marry your best friend.

Hiking/adventuring. Traveling. Reading. Great movies.

Forensic Psychologist.
What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?
Take a hike, then settle in with a good book or movie.

Love animals! I have 1 dog, 3 cats, a turtle, and some fish.
What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?
Anywhere a meal is made with love. It can be anywhere, but if it is made with love, it is the always a standout!
