The dance floor was packed. The only complaint we had about the DJ is that everyone had sore feet the next day from dancing too much!”

“Dan was very thorough in his pre-wedding planning. He really spent the time to get to know us and our taste in music.”

“Dan was very reachable through phone, email, and we even had some video conferences with him. He makes excellent use of technology to streamline the whole process so we didn’t have to do any running around.”

“Dan’s goal, he had said, was to have every guest at the party on the dance floor. It truly happened.”

“We felt in good hands. It was the greatest feeling on such a special day.”

Dan loves what he does. He is very understanding, he listens to your questions and concerns, and makes sure you are satisfied and able to concentrate on other aspects of your event planning. Dan was always very friendly and showed real interest in working with us.”

“Hands down, our wedding had the best DJ ever! We kept hearing over and over what a great flow our reception had and that was all thanks to Dan.”

Questions and Answers

What 3 words best describe your work?
Fun. Beautiful. Easy.
Tell us about your company name.
I was inspired by hearing the great chefs of the world referring to the secret ingredient in their best dishes being love—they cook with love. Originally the idea was that I made my mixes with love. Now that concept applies to everything we do.
Why should someone hire you?
We listen. We offer a personalized service that makes planning and producing events easy and fun. We take exquisite care of our clients. Our DJs rock dance floors and our thoughtful lighting designs are customized to work with our clients' budget and vision. We are a team of like-minded individuals who combine our various talents to make beautiful and enjoyable weddings.
What sets your company apart from other wedding DJs?
We are the only DJ company whose “wedding DJs” are customer service professionals who also DJ regularly at nightclubs throughout San Francisco including BootieSF, San Francisco’s biggest and best party that has hosted 1000+ guests every Saturday for 8 years. In the nightlife business, that is a lifetime. Bootie is all about fun and freedom and San Francisco, and our DJs all match that vibe.
What are the common misconceptions about your services?
That all DJs are created equally. The range of options in the “wedding DJ” realm is extensive. There are individuals and companies. Full timers and part timers. Good, Better, and Holy Cow. Any of them can provide music for your wedding. Wedding DJs do a lot more than press play and take requests. Over the course of several months our team will all contribute something towards making the wedding come to life and flow seamlessly. Everything we do is tailored to each client and every Holy Cow reception requires extensive preparation and organization.

It is also a common misconception that DJs are qualified to design lighting schemes for events. All uplights are not created equal. Lighting design takes into account the specific details of each event and involves multiple techniques and equipment to produce the Holy Cow factor. We are the ONLY company that specializes in both music and lighting.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
I have been making music mixes since I was in 5th grade. I have always been the music guy and I've always enjoyed parties. I worked in the lighting business for 10 years and decided it was time to pursue mixing music as a profession.
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
Recently at a wedding in Napa, a nearby transformer exploded. Open dancing had just gotten underway and the party was building steam. For a moment, all seemed lost. Within 5 minutes, we ran to the van, grabbed our battery-operated backup speakers, moved our battery-operated lights outside, and, with an iPad, continued the party until the power came back an hour later.
What makes a wedding memorable for you?
Original vows. Touching toasts. Shouts from the dance floor when we drop the perfect track. Last dances where everyone is encircling the bride and groom. Thank you’s from my clients.
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
Invest in the best professionals, even if it means not accomplishing everything on your wish list. Having the peace of mind that, no matter what, you and your guests will be taken care of, is priceless. Relax and enjoy the day.
What are 3 words that describe your personality?
Poised. Determined. Resilient.
What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?
My favorite movie is Glengarry Glen Ross.
What's your favorite marriage advice?
Happy wife, happy life!
If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?
Something with baseball.
