Questions and Answers

What 3 words best describe your work?

Detailed, organized, heartfelt.

Tell us about your company name.

Weddings & Events Made Easy is meant to tell future couples exactly what kind of service they'll receive when they hire us. Event planning made easy.

Why should someone hire you?

Every planner on staff is certified. Something else that sets us apart is that we actually care! We also customize packages to fit many different budgets and wedding visions. We take the time to listen to your wants, needs, and we give you a step-by-step process that makes you feel like you've been planning events your whole life. Working with us is as hands-on as you want it to be, but it's always easy.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

I started planning events when I was around 7 years old. My Girl Scout troop would always have picnics in the park and pool parties. Naturally, I wanted to help my mom, the Troop Leader, plan them all. My Gold Award Project was setting up a Halloween Dance at an orphanage—complete with brand new, donated costumes and goodie bags for each of the children. I held the position of social chair in my sorority where I learned to plan mixers and fundraising events, then I transitioned to corporate events once I graduated college. I finally landed on weddings a few years later, and knew this was my passion. Event planning has been my calling almost my entire life.

What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?

Magazines such as People and Vogue inspired my work when I was younger. Now I find inspiration from the details given to me by my brides and grooms. Whenever I need a fresh idea I browse Pinterest and Instagram, then I hit the drawing pad to create something unique.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:

My favorite moment at a wedding was when the flower girl came up to me, hugged me, and exclaimed, "You did great! Will you plan my wedding?" I was so astonished that she even knew who I was, and what I'd done, that I couldn't even speak. When I finally gathered my wits, I told her "Of course, I will." I think about this moment almost every day.

What makes a wedding memorable for you?

The expressions on the couples' faces when they see each other for the first time, and then when they're at dinner or taking photos, whenever it happens, and they finally have a moment to look around and see what we've created. Knowing that their special day was made possible because I was included is not only memorable, but so incredibly fulfilling.

What have weddings taught you?

Weddings have taught me how to work well under pressure, problem solve instantaneously, and how to get creative on the fly. They've also taught me patience.

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

Be flexible. Have big dreams with minimal expectations. I find that couples who come into wedding planning with a general idea of what they want, but allow us to show them many varieties of venues, vendor options, and designs end up loving the end result that much more because they had little to no expectations. They were willing to go along for the ride and choose elements that were beautiful, realistic, and available to them. Couples that come in shooting for the moon, don't always have the same outcome. I also recommend that couples give their wedding planner a bit of grace from time to time. She has a very demanding job and unless she's ghosted you completely, she's doing her best.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?

To be a genie-like creature that could give every couple exactly what they want, every time.

What are 3 words that describe your personality?

Bubbly, friendly, thorough.

What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?

The Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville by Robert Doisneau. The piece is a black and white photograph of a man and woman in 1950's France, kissing in the middle of a crowd. This image makes my heart flutter because they didn't care who was around. They just had the urge to kiss and acted on it. This photo is so romantic and reminds me how crucial a part of life love is.

What's your favorite quote?

"Always find opportunities to make someone smile, and to offer random acts of kindness in everyday life." —Roy T. Bennett

What's your favorite marriage advice?

Listen. Let the other person tell you how they feel and do what you can to make their life easier. This also goes with being open and communicative. You can't read minds so talking about everything makes living a life with another person much less complicated.

Extracurricular activities:

Working out, crafting, creating, reading, cooking, and learning.

If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?

I would be a therapist. Helping people find happiness is something that brings me joy and makes life worth living.

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?

I love to play with my dogs, then make a cup of tea, and sit down with a good book.

Tell us about your pets, if you have any.

Hunter is my miniature husky. He's calm, quiet, and regal. He is so beautiful and sweet. Dakota is my mini Australian Shepherd. He's only 6 months old and a total hoot. Gorgeous, loving, cuddly, and playful. He makes me laugh everyday.

What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?

The Stinking Rose in San Francisco! It's a restaurant that incorporates garlic into almost every dish! Even the ice cream is made with real garlic. Everything is divine and stinkin' delicious.
