- It’s a beautifully restored historic building. Built in 1929, the John Marshall was once the largest hotel in Virginia. A masterpiece of opulent Regency and Deco-inspired design, the venue has been recently renovated to install modern amenities while ensuring the rooms retain their original splendor.
- Two decadent ballrooms have uniquely elegant features. In the Marshall Ballroom, light comes from nine vintage crystal chandeliers and three walls of windows, framed by elaborate hand-carved moldings. The Virginia Ballroom has a grand split staircase that leads to a wraparound balcony, which can be used for extra seating or as simply a place for guests to mingle and take in the room’s beauty.
- The catering team is helpful and flexible. Homemades by Suzanne has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, and is an invaluable resource when it comes to planning. Not only do they take care of the basics, but they’ll happily provide you with a list of trusted local vendors, arrange for extra setup or rehearsal time when possible, and do their best to accommodate special menu requests. They’ll even make kid-friendly meals for your tiniest guests—including a toy!
