Whitney is Here Comes The Guide's version of a Swiss Army knife. You know: the tool that you have in your pocket for any and all life hack scenarios? The one that once you have it, you question how you ever lived without it? Yeah, that's Whitney. She is so intelligent and also makes QUICK work of any task she's given. And around here, that is a swoon-worthy quality. Whitney is coming back to work after taking a break to raise her 2 sons and, while we are willing to share her with her family, there is no way we are ever letting her go.
Insider Info
Marital status: My husband and I met when we were 13 years old. He walked into our class at church for the first time and, according to him, told his friend, “I’m going to marry that girl” before we had ever talked to each other. We became fast friends and started dating when we were 16, and got married a few months after we graduated college in October of 2001. I guess you could say he was right!
Things I love: A quiet morning with a cup of coffee and a good book, Hershey Kisses, Ohio State Buckeyes football, Diet Coke, pineapple on my pizza, the beach, chocolate peanut butter ice cream, making lists, and traveling to explore new places.
Celebrity I would most like to have a one-on-one date with: Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney. I won’t pick just one, you can’t make me.
My source of inspiration: My two sons. They challenge me, they help me grow, and they teach me so much. I truly believe that my oldest son taught me how to love and my youngest son taught me how to have joy. They make it easy to want to do better and be better each and every day.
What pushes my panic button: Sharks, the dentist, not knowing when and where my next vacation will be, and disorganization. I drove my mom crazy as a kid because I wouldn’t leave the soup aisle at the grocery store until all the cans faced the right way.
Favorite wedding day detail: It was important for us to recognize special family members and friends in our lives who had been role models in life and marriage to us. During our ceremony, we had a special candle lighting as a way to honor them for all they had meant to us.
Favorite wedding-related movie: Notting Hill and Sweet Home Alabama. How can I pick between “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her” and “Why would you want to marry me for, anyhow? So I can kiss you anytime I want?” Impossible choice.
Dream vacation spot: Paris! I used to ride my bike to the library to check out a How to Learn French book with a cassette tape over and over.
What I love most about my job: Everything! I became a stay-at-home mom for 14 years to raise my boys and coming back to this work environment has made the transition so easy. I could not have dreamed up anything better. Every single person has been awesome. You won’t find a more capable, kind, smart, hard-working, and supportive group of women on the planet.
