6 Reasons Why Weekday Weddings Rock

Just think: A Taco Tuesday Wedding!

As more and more couples scramble to reschedule their weddings, less and less Saturday 2020 (and beyond) dates become available. And while that may seem less-than-ideal, don't get discouraged! There are some major benefits to having a weekday wedding.

A Monday through Friday fête comes with many perks—including lower costs, more availability, a cozier group of guests, and a seriously cool non-traditional factor.

So let's make lemons into lemon drops, and look on the bright side of midweek weddings!

1. Weekday weddings are typically easier on the wallet

Here's where we state the obvious: Since Saturday is the most popular day of the week for weddings, it also tends to be the most expensive. The demand for Saturday weddings can drive up every associated cost—from venue rentals, to food & beverage, to vendor packages. Expect to see higher price tags galore to meet the demand of a Saturday soirée.

But weekday weddings? They can be a beautiful way for price-conscious couples and profit-oriented businesses to meet in the middle. Couples looking to save money can book a midweek date that a wedding service provider would be utterly excited to fill! It's truly a win-win. Plus, many wedding venues and vendors provide added incentives to fill these less popular dates. So you have the potential to not only save money, but get some added value on top of it!

2. You're more likely to secure your dream venue

That venue you've had your heart set on may have its Saturdays booked out for months, or even years, in advance. But even the most sought-after and seemingly out-of-reach venues may have midweek availability. What’s more? They may have weekday openings during peak seasons and at a more affordable price! *Cue the confetti*

Booking a weekday wedding is an especially good idea if you've got a tight timeline. If the date doesn't really matter to you and you just want to tie the knot ASAP, inquire about any unbooked dates your desired wedding venue may be trying to fill.

3. More of your favorite vendors will be available

Similar to wedding venues, many of the most popular photographers, coordinators, and floral designers could have totally booked Saturdays up to a year (or more) in advance! Wanna fit into their jam-packed schedule? Ask about their midweek availability. Plus, since vendors are far less likely to book out those weekday dates, you'll probably get a better deal on everything from cakes to catering to coordination!

Just be aware that since most wedding vendors work weekends, they may take Mondays or Tuesdays (or Wednesdays or Thursdays) off. If you do have your heart set on a particular vendor, it's worth asking which weekdays they're available to work.

4. Hotels and airfare are less expensive

Another place to save on a midweek wedding? Travel and lodging. Many hotels are unable to fill every vacancy during the week, so naturally the room rates will be lower. (There's that supply-meet-demand thing again!) Since there's less demand for flights and accommodations during the week, there's higher potential to find great room rates and cheaper airfare—which makes things easier on your guests' wallets, too!

5. You can choose a fun theme – or popular date!

If having a Taco Tuesday-themed wedding sounds right up your alley, do it! Complete with margaritas and a taco wall. Or make it a Thirsty Thursday wedding with an amazing menu of signature cocktails. Opening yourself up to a midweek affair also ups the chance that you'll get a really cool wedding date! For example, 2/2/22 falls on a Wednesday. We say snag that date up!

6. You'll enjoy a more intimate affair

Much like a destination wedding, a weekday wedding will almost certainly mean a smaller guest list. The good news? Your wedding will consist of your most rock-solid VIP guests who wouldn't let anything (much less a day of the week) stop them from celebrating your big day. And an intimate midweek affair comes with an invaluable bonus: more quality face time with that cozier group of guests!

It's a good idea, though, to run your midweek date by those whose attendance is MOST important to you first. That way, as long as your VIPs are there, the rest of the guest list is icing on the {wedding} cake.

Once you set your date, give your guests as much advance notice as possible so they can take time off work or make other necessary arrangements. You could also consider an evening ceremony to give your 9–5 guests the opportunity to get their workday in first. Just take rush hour traffic into account before setting the start time!
